Charlene Cappellini MA, MLS, KYT, YAT, spent many years as an academic educator before becoming a yoga teacher. A long-time student with Loretta Armer, she completed her first yoga teacher training and certification from Dr. Armer's Namaste Yoga Teacher Training Center (1999-2000). She has another 200-hour certification from Kripalu Yoga Center (2004), completed a 500-hour teaching certification with Gary Kraftsow at the American Viniyoga Institute (2013), and has been a Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher since 2004. Charlene also trained in Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater and is a certified Relax and Renew™ teacher (2008). She has been practicing yoga since 1985.

At Namasté Yoga, Charlene offers Gentle and Restorative yoga classes, as well as a Yoga for Balance and Stability class designed especially for older students. Her Gentle Yoga classes combine Kripalu and Viniyoga traditions, using an organic approach that encourages students to honor the wisdom of their own bodies and unique individual needs. Each class offers instruction on developing core stability to increase strength and endurance, support the spine, improve alignment, and overall well-being. Students learn breathing techniques that not only support the postures, but also reduce stress and promote respiratory and spinal health. Each class ends with a deep, meditative relaxation.

Charlene is also available for one-on-one consultations to help you design a personal yoga practice that meets your specific, individual needs.  Please contact her for an appointment.

Donna Diaz began practicing yoga in 2010 and immediately felt an overwhelming sense of well-being. She quickly realized that yoga was not just an exercise, but a spiritual path to the inner self. She discovered yoga at a pivotal time in her life and as a result of her personal transformation, she knew that she would make yoga her life's work. After 25 years in the healthcare industry she decided to devote her life to the yogic path and in 2016 completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Green Monkey Yoga in Coral Gables, FL.  She is a member of Yoga Alliance. Donna describes her mission as a teacher: to show up powerfully and authentically for every student in every class and to empower her students to live their most complete and for filling lives through their yoga practice.  Donna is a recent transplant to Tallahassee and Namaste Yoga is thrilled to have her joining us as a teacher!

Gretchen Hein has been teaching yoga since 2001, both in Tallahassee at Namasté Yoga as well as in Woodstock, NY. In 2001 she received her teaching certification from Kripalu. She is currently pursuing advanced training in Yoga Therapy with Pranakriya Yoga. She has also studied extensively in the Iyengar and Anusara traditions, combining the energetic and spiritual aspects of the Kripalu tradition with the alignment aspects of Iyengar and Anusara. In addition to teaching classes at Namasté Yoga, Gretchen leads small groups and individual private yoga classes. Please contact her for an appointment.

Gretchen created a 5-CD yoga series for those who are blind and visually impaired, Beginning Yoga for the Blind and Visually Impaired, guiding those with visual challenges through the process of learning yoga with spatial cues. She has also produced a yoga instructional CD, Yoga Flow.  Both CDs are available directly from her.

Gretchen leads Kirtan, the ancient yoga practice of repeating simple Sanskrit chants set to music. The melodies, rhythms and the mantras (short phrases) provide an effortless way to drop the busy-ness of our lives and discover a quiet and spacious inner place. This call and response format has many benefits similar to meditation or a yoga class. For the past 15 years Gretchen has also explored movement and dance through the 5 Rhythms established by Gabrielle Roth, both by attending workshops and events as well as organizing and hosting occasional events at Namasté Yoga.

Gretchen’s path through the body/mind/soul practices began with the practice of yoga in her early twenties. She left yoga during her late  20’s, studied Tai Chi for a number of years, and found her way back to yoga, where she has been ever since. The ability to practice on the physical level and access the deeper healing practices of the body/mind/soul keep Gretchen coming back to her mat day after day. It also feeds her desire to share those practices with others. Gretchen opened and operated a yoga studio in Woodstock, NY for some years. She co-owns Namasté Yoga with Ellen Shapiro.
